Symptom

You have uploaded a website and images by FTP tot he home directory of your web space. The web server does not deliver them.

Cause

Your web pages and images must be uploaded into the sub-directory that serves your domain.

Solution

An empty Bitpalace Business Booster contains three directories that branch off the home directory. Do not delete these directories!

• /error_docs
  This directory contains a collection of error message pages. You can edit these pages to fit your needs, for instance to display individual error pages to users if a page cannot be found or other exceptions exist.
• /httpdocs
  This is your webspace directory. Do not delete this directory. The web server needs it. The web server will only deliver what has been saved to this directory or branches off this directory.
• /logs
  Here you can find the current log files of your website. Many PHP scripts contain errors, including commercial applications. If your website displays an error or a white page only you should take a look at the *error_log files in this directory. You will normally find the reason for a failure there.

If you operate several domains in the same web space account, you will also find other directories that are named like your domain names, e.g.

/my-domain.com
/another-domain-of-mine.net
/yet-another-one.info

The web pages and images of your first domain that is named like your Bitpalace Business Booster should be stored in the /httpdocs directory. The website (and images) of an additional domain should be stored in the directory that is named like the domain that you want to edit.

If you want to store files that do not belong to a specific website or that should not be available through a web browser, you could store them in the home directory, but your web space can be kept more tidy, if you do not. If you want to store files that do not belong to a website, you should better create a separate sub-directory for them. You can create sub-directories with the online file manager in the customer control panel or with your FTP client program.
