Solution

With a domain alias you make your website accessible under a second name, without the request being redirected to another domain. That is, the alias domain stays visible as a browser URL, as if the website was running under the alias domain.

However, some website systems store a URL in their configuration under which they can be reached and generate internal links with only that domain. This includes Wordpress. In this case, the website can be accessed via the alias, but any further clicks within the website lead back to the main domain of the website.

A disadvantage of an alias domain is that it can basically be registered in search engines, but then "duplicate content" is recognized and the domain may be deleted from the search engine or the domain’s ranking may be downgraded. If you use a domain alias, you should always place the "canonical" domain meta tag in the section of your page's source code, under which the page can actually be reached, to avoid being downgraded in the search engine ranking.

To create a domain alias, simply click on the "Add Domain Alias" button on the "Websites & Domains" tab. Enter the "domain alias name". Uncheck the "Redirect with HTTP code 301" checkbox to get a real alias and no redirect to the main domain of the site.

Keep in mind that with the setting you only instruct the web server to respond to the alias domain with the website. However, you do not order a domain name from a registrar. If you have not yet ordered the domain name, use the order feature of our website to order the additional domain you want to use as a domain alias.
