Symptom
You want to upload very large files to your website via browser or your software, e.g. Divi, requires that you increase the PHP settings post_max_size and upload_max_filesize for uploading large files.
Cause
As the resolution of digital photos increased and the size of software packages increased, so did the need to upload large files to websites. Browser uploads are generally unsuitable for this, as there are many factors that influence the upload. It's not just about how long the PHP scripting language waits for an upload or what maximum size of data the website accepts, but also about whether your browser likes to upload large files or whether the web server accepts large blocks of files. There are timeout limits in several places. Even if you increase the PHP settings post_max_size and upload_max_filesize, browser uploads often fail if the files are particularly large.
Solution
If you wish, Bitpalace support will be happy to set high post_max_size and upload_max_filesize values for you. Please simply send an email to support with the desired values. But you should also know: Large values in PHP settings can easily lead to security problems, and the upload of large files is probably still not reliably possible afterwards, despite the high limit values. With high numbers in the post_max_size and upload_max_filesize settings you enable attackers, among other things, to block your website by POSTing large uploads.
Large files should be uploaded via FTP where possible. The protocol was created precisely for the purpose of being able to copy files between servers. So just use an FTP program, e.g. Filezilla, to load such files into your web space.
If FTP is not an option for you and you need browser uploads of large files, it is advisable to use asynchronous uploads (AJAX uploads). With asynchronous uploads it is possible to reliably upload files of any size to the server via a browser, even if the system limits such as post_max_size and upload_max_filesize are low. In addition, asynchronous uploads provide a progress indicator that is not possible with normal browser POST uploads. For asynchronous uploads there are many ready-made plugins for all widespread content management systems such as Wordpress, e.g. Tuxedo Big File Uploads.
