Symptom

You have made data backups with the data backup tool of the webspace control panel. Now you want to restore a part of it (e.g. only a certain e-mail inbox, a database, certain files) or all (e.g. the entire website).

Solution

You can restore your own data backups free of charge and you can do this yourself at any time.

Regardless of whether you have made full or incremental backups, you only have to start a single restore process to restore the status of an object (e.g. website, database, mailbox) of a specific date. If you select an increment, the webspace control panel will process the increment, but also all previous backups that led to the increment, in sequence, so that you ultimately receive the complete data status of the selected date.

1. Log into the webspace control panel.

2. Click the “Account” menu.

3. Click on the "Back up websites" or "Back up account and websites" button - depending on which function you used to back up your data.

4. You will see a list of all data backups that the webspace control panel knows. Click on the creation date of the backup from which you want to restore part or all of the backup.

5. In the “What do you want to restore?” Section, select either “Selected objects” if you only want to restore certain parts, or “All objects (entire system)” if you want to restore your entire web space account. Below you select the type of object to be restored, e.g. "Mail Account", "Database" etc.

6. If you do not want to restore all items, you can now choose from a list which of your mail accounts, databases, websites, etc. should be restored. To do this, select the object you want from the list on the left(“Available”) and move it to the list on the right (“Selected”). What is in the right list will be restored.

7. You can decide whether you want to restore the configuration only or the configuration and contents. Because data restores can take a long time, depending on the size of the backup, you can receive an email notification when the restore is complete.

8. To start the restore process, click the "Restore" button.
